Choosing Childcare

Choosing Childcare

Find details of local Childcare Providers in Manchester, including registered childminders who offer care in their own home, private day nurseries, adult and toddler groups, playgroups and out of school provision.

You can search for eligble providers of Early Education Funding for 2, 3 or 4 year olds.  Look in the Childminder, Day Nurseries and Playgroup sub-categories for details.

You will also find details of activities and services offered at your local Children’s Centre.  This includes the latest ‘What’s On’ guides which tell you what is currently running.

You can search for individual childcare providers by name or their OFSTED unique reference number (URN - usually starts with EY).  If you know the type of childcare you would like, you can select the sub-categories on the left hand side of the page with your postcode to find a provider near you.

Choosing Childcare for children with special educational needs and disabilities

Choosing the right childcare service is important for you and your child. You need to be confident that your child is safe, secure and happy. Sometimes it can feel daunting trying to find a suitable childcare or early education place for a child with a disability or special educational needs (SEND) but there is lots of information, help and support you can tap into.

Most childcare providers offer inclusive childcare. Under the Equality Act 2010, all childcare and early education providers have a responsibility to:

not treat a disabled child ‘less favourably’ than other children. This means that your child should have the same play and learning opportunities as other children and you should not be charged more for offering the same service to a disabled child and;

make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to make sure that it is not difficult or impossible for disabled children to make use of a service.

If you have a child with special educational needs or a disability and have searched the childcare section but cannot identify any suitable provision, you can contact our Parent engagement officer and request support from the brokerage service.
